Stats Perform has acquired the global betting streaming and data rights to Volleyball World.
The 10-year deal covers events such as the FIVB Men’s and Women’s Volleyball World Championships and Beach World Championships – taking place every two years from 2025 – alongside the annual Volleyball Nations League and the Beach Pro Tour.
The partnership also includes men’s and women’s competitions such as the Italian Superlega, Italian Lega Volley Femminile and several Asian Volleyball Confederation competitions.
Alex Rice, Chief Commercial Officer at Stats Perform, detailed: “Volleyball is an increasingly important sport for our licensed sportsbook partners because their users love to watch and engage with it.
“It is consistently one of the most-viewed events at the Olympic Games and recent data shows it can attract as many bettors as the tennis majors. We are excited to help our clients deliver such captivating year-round content to their users.”
Volleyball may not be a widely followed sport in markets like the US or UK but it has considerable fandom throughout much of Europe, particularly East and Southeastern Europe – markets which some major operators like Entain and Flutter Entertainment have been targeting via acquisitions.
The popularity of volleyball in Eastern Europe – and its subsequent potential as a betting market and therefore a valuable data product – can also be seen in sponsorship activity. For example, Polish market leader STS partnered with the country’s national volleyball champions back in 2023.
Further showcasing the value of data rights around the sport, a similar deal to this was formed between FeedConstruct and Korea’s Volleyball Leagues and Cup competitions in November last year. This saw the provider secure exclusive international streaming and data rights for both the men’s and women’s matches.
Felix von Knorring, Head of Media at Volleyball World, commented on the Stats Perform deal: “We are thrilled to partner with Stats Perform and leverage their highly professional approach to content creation and distribution.
“Together with their AI and technical capabilities, strong commitment to fan engagement and unrivalled network of licensed sportsbook partners, they provide the perfect platform for us to bring the top-class entertainment of premier men’s and women’s volleyball to the widest possible audience.”
In a move showing the firm’s continuing momentum across several professional sports, Late last year, Stats Perform expanded its official media data partnership with Football DataCo (FDC).
This move now sees its Opta sports data brand named the official insights provider for FDC competitions, including the Premier League, Sky Bet Championship, League One and League Two and Scottish Professional Football League and Scottish Women’s Premier League.
