Checkd Media has capped Tim Sherwood as the interim host of its ‘No Tippy Tappy Football with Sam Allardyce’ podcast, sponsored by William Hill.
The sudden transfer was made after long-term host Sam Allardyce, who shared his namesake with the show’s title, took up the job of manager of struggling Leeds United this week.
Former Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur manager Sherwood will begin host duties tomorrow alongside Natalie Pike and guest speaker Simon Grayson tomorrow, with Bianca Westwood, Andy Cole and Neil Lennon scheduled as guests further down the line.
Will Tyrrell, Director of UK Media at Checkd Media, said: “We are delighted to see Sam back managing in the Premier League once again, less than a week after he exclusively told us on the show how he would save Leeds United from relegation – which they’ve now put to the test.
“At the same time, we are sad to lose his unique insight on No Tippy Tappy Football, which is why it was important that we acted quickly to fill the gap.
“Tim Sherwood has all of the experience, know-how and wealth of opinions we were looking for, so we are delighted to bring him on board as the season builds to an exciting conclusion.”
No Tippy Tappy was first launched in the run up to the 2022 World Cup, securing the aforementioned sponsorship from 888Holdings’ William Hill omnichannel bookmaker brand and distributed on Checkd Media’s Footy Accumulators platform.
The show was renewed by Checkd Media in March 2023 after producing ‘impressive figures’ ahead of the tournament, recording an audience of 17.8 million and branded views of 1.4 million.
Announcing the appointment of Sherwood as host, Checkd stated that the show will continue to feature ‘betting insights, opinions and anecdotes’ from now until the end of the current season in a month’s time.
Football is not the only sport Checkd has focused on, however, as the group’s partnership with William Hill was expanded with the launch of The Inside Track weekly horse racing programme, produced for the legacy bookmaker ahead of the Cheltenham Festival and Grand National.
