Following last week’s announcement that it would spend $250 million on Disney ESPN inventory over the next two years, US daily fantasy sports operator DraftKings continues to ramp up its marketing coverage by announcing an exclusive partnership with Major League Soccer (MLS).
The MLS will become the fifth professional sports league/body to become an official partner of DraftKings joining the MLB (baseball), NHL (Ice Hockey), UFC (mixed martial arts) and Nascar (racing).
As part of its agreement, DraftKings is set to offer exclusive MLS fantasy games and prizes. The operator will be promoted throughout MLS franchise stadiums and throughout the leagues digital inventory including website MLSsoccer.com.
DraftKings marketing further stated that it would work with the MLS on fan and corporate initiatives, expanding its relationship beyond marketing and coverage.
Commenting on its agreements with the MLS Jason Robins CEO of DraftKings stated
“Soccer is an incredibly exciting sport that is underrepresented in daily fantasy and we’re going to change that in a big way. We are truly looking forward to collaborating with MLS on unique contests and exclusive one-of-a-kind experiences that will thrill their passionate fan base and thoroughly engage the DraftKings community.”
US news sources have further stated that DraftKings is set to announce exclusive partnerships with individual MLS football clubs in the coming months.
