BetVictor’s Eoin Ryan takes help from Betfinder at Doncaster

Eoin Ryan
Eoin Ryan, BetVictor

Despite claiming to be the ‘worst judge since Pontius Pilate’, Eoin Ryan, Head of Sportsbook Product at BetVictor, has accepted the Tipster Challenge today at Doncaster.

All his tips have been identified with help from Betfinder, BetVictor’s latest product development for horse racing. Ryan will be hoping that this innovative way of picking a horse will help him to keep the Guests on top of the leaderboard.

Our Guests will be going up against SBC News, Timeform and Stephen Harris. The Horse Racing Guru at bettingexpert is currently in 2nd place, 22.70 points behind the leaders.

SBC News: Akhlaaq

Impressed in a maiden debut victory at Salisbury and will be the short price favourite.

bettingexpert: Akhlaaq

Overcame inexperience to make a winning debut, and should have a lot more to come.

Timeform: Akhlaaq

Profits from the late withdrawal of his biggest rival, and can deliver on his abundant promise to improve past the standard-setter Dream Of Dreams.

BetVictor: Akhlaaq

Not a very original selection, but won on debut and appeared to have plenty in hand. Biggest threat is now a NR and looks to have more scope than the rest.

SBC News: Notalot

After a couple of victories at Chepstow, Notalot arrives on a hat-trick here.

bettingexpert: Used To Be

Represents a stable in terrific form, and has shaped well despite failing to win in four previous runs this summer.

Timeform: Our Charlie Brown

Showed much improved form to make a winning nursery debut at Musselburgh recently, and with further progress a distinct possibility, he earns the vote to follow up.

BetVictor: Notalot

Seems to be improving still and has won his last two on the spin. Might be more to come, and the yard is in good form.

SBC News: Thesme

Equimou enjoys the weight allowance, but we’re siding with Thesme to build on her recent form.

bettingexpert: Line Of Reason

Needs the cards to fall right, but does have a touch of class and will relish the drying conditions under top weight.

Timeform: Thesme

The speed that Thesme showed when an excellent fifth in the Nunthorpe could simply draw the sting out of her rivals here, so she’s expected to make a bold bid.

BetVictor: Equimou

Taking a big step up in class, but is the only improver in the race and the race conditions see him get quite a nice weight-for-age allowance.

SBC News: Bluff Crag

Top rider on board, and benefits from a drop into classified stakes company.

bettingexpert: Bluff Crag

Has the best rider in the race on board by some distance, and really ought to go close if getting the breaks.

Timeform: Hijran

Thirsk win 12 days ago was all the more meritorious given he was committed a long way from home, and given it’s perfectly plausible there’s more to come for her connections, her claims are pretty persuasive.

BetVictor: Hijran

An open race; my inclination in these types of affairs is to go with horses that are fit from a recent run or win, and that are improving. Hijran ticks the boxes for me.

SBC News: War Glory

Lightly raced, but has been competitive on all four outings, with two victories already.

bettingexpert: Stamp Hill

Has optimum conditions, and can prove too strong for his rivals who have shot up the weights.

Timeform: War Glory

Continues to go the right way, and may well resume winning ways on the back of his good second at Chester in July.

BetVictor: War Glory

Beaten favourite last time out, but has won over a mile and is unexposed and consistent. Could well be more to come in what will be a tactical affair no doubt.

SBC News: Mount Logan

Should be a cut above the rest of the field, and can benefit from a six-week break.

bettingexpert: Oasis Fantasy

Looks a cut above these rivals on very favourable terms, and can quicken to go clear late on.

Timeform: Revolutionist

Has to bounce back from a couple of heavy defeats in handicap company, but the prospect of an uncontested lead may well enable him to do just that.

BetVictor: Mount Logan

Another small field tactical affair here, and in these types of races course and distance form can often prove advantageous. Has had a short break since his last sub-par effort and should go very close.

SBC News: Pea Shooter

The consistent Pea Shooter looks the best value for money in a wide open finale.

bettingexpert: Pea Shooter

Tough and consistent handicapper with ideal conditions here to go close under SDS.

Timeform: Outrage

Has looked a sprinter firmly on the up the last twice, doing well to prevail close home under a confident ride at Haydock last month, and he looks to have plenty in his favour.

BetVictor: Top Boy

The name says it all, and as it is highly likely that I will need to pull a rabbit out of the hat in the finale to be top boy in this contest. One of the lesser lights in the field, he comes into the race with winning form and an improving profile.
