Payment processing firm Skrill have agreed to cancel their sponsorship of the Football Conference just one year into a three year deal.
A joint press release explained: “Skrill has undergone a number of changes since the agreement was entered into and will be aligning any future sponsorship activity to its global strategy.
“The Football Conference has always enjoyed excellent relations with its previous title partners and, in the relatively short time it has worked with Skrill, has found the relationship to be a strong and beneficial one.
“It recognises that Skrill`s long-term plans have changed and is grateful for the opportunity afforded to it to be associated with such an excellent brand.”
The working relationship between the two organisations is unlikely to have been helped by the current match-fixing investigation being conducted which has seen three Conference South footballers charged with related offences. After all, with the business that Skrill is in the last thing they want to be associated with is dodgy payments.
