Simon Johnson will oversee the gaming teams for Scientific Games in Europe, the Middle East and Africa after being promoted to Senior Vice President and Managing Director EMEA.
In his new role, Johnson will now assume responsibility for the company’s ‘course of strategic direction’ across the EMEA as the company seeks new growth opportunities in the region.
Johnson initially joined SG four years ago, having previously held the position of UK Commercial Director where he led the UK go-to-market teams, including Sales, Product Management, Marketing and Business Intelligence.
During that time, he helped ‘generate new revenues and execute a commercial strategy to drive recovery and restore growth’ while also ensuring that SG remained compliant with UK regulatory requirements.
Prior to his role as UK Commercial Director, Johnson amassed ‘significant experience’ in leading sales and operational teams across multiple jurisdictions, having worked across investment banking, private equity, telecommunications and financial technology businesses.
These roles, say SG, helped Johnson hone his skills in ‘defining and executing complex change programs, building and developing high-performing teams, and working with boards to deliver growth and operational enhancements’.
The announcement follows on from the news that Jim Bombassei has been appointed as SG’s new Senior Vice President of Investor Relations. The technology group confirmed that Bombassei will serve as dual investor relations lead for its separately listed Scientific Games (SGMS) and SciPlay (SCPL) ventures.
