Light & Wonder names Simon Johnson as igaming CEO

Light & Wonder has appoints Simon Johnson as the new CEO of the Nasdaq-listed global games developer and technology group.

Since joining the company in 2017, Johnson has played a key role in driving the global commercial growth of its gaming division. Previously serving as Senior Vice President and International Managing Director, Johnson has been instrumental in Light & Wonder’s iGaming transformation.

In his new position, Johnson will report directly to Matt Wilson, Light & Wonder’s President and CEO, and will join the company’s Executive Leadership Team.

Prior to joining Light & Wonder, Johnson built a diverse career across various industries. Starting in investment banking, he specialised in mergers, acquisitions, and cross-border transactions. He later held leadership roles in private equity, telecommunications, and financial technology companies, working with organisations ranging from startups to FTSE 100 and Fortune 500 giants.

Light & Wonder is expanding its growth through third-party content partnerships, including a recent collaboration with Bragg Gaming Group. This partnership brings Bragg’s in-house and subsidiary studio games, including titles from Atomic Slot Lab, Indigo Magic, Wild Streak Gaming, and Spin Games, to Light & Wonder’s online platform.

Matevž Mazij, CEO of Bragg Gaming Group, praised the partnership, calling Light & Wonder a “world-leading platform and games provider” and highlighting the “huge benefits” the collaboration offers.
