Scientific Games inks deal to modernise WestLotto retail outlets in Germany

Scientific Games has teamed up with Germany lottery operator WestLotto for the introduction of camera based technology across the lottery’s retail sites in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The technology will be implemented into the Contour.v terminals, which WestLotto will use to offer players a contactless experience across more than 3,000 retail outlets from April, 2025.

Andreas Kötter, Managing Director at Westdeutsche Lotterie GmbH & Co. OHG, said: “Our work with WestLotto’s longtime technology partner Scientific Games continues to modernise our retail network.

“The new camera-based terminals are the next step toward digitising transactions in our retail environments, and we anticipate a very positive reaction from our retailers as well as our players.”

Contour.v are camera-based optical terminals that feature ticket scan technology and HD screens – a package designed by Scientific Games to satisfy an increasing market demand for integrated lottery retail and digital solutions.

WestLotto was first established in 1955 and is a member of the World Lottery Association (WLA). It has been a partner of Scientific Games for over 25  years, using the company’s instant games, retailer management system, retail point-of-sale technology, iLottery and sports betting solutions.

Scientific Games itself acts as a supplier for all 16 lotteries across Germany.

Matthias Müller, VP of Sales & Marketing for Scientific Games, added: “WestLotto has always demonstrated a strong focus on technology. Moving to new optical terminals is another example of innovative vision to modernise the lottery retail experience.

“We are very pleased that WestLotto continues to trust Scientific Games’ technology and support services.”
