Scientific Games has signed a new eight-year contract to continue its tech support of Puerto Rico’s Lotería Electrónica.
Lotería Electrónica is placed in the top 10 US lotteries in terms of per capita draw game sales, while also bolstering high instant game per capita sales in the Caribbean.
The contract will introduce various upgrades to the Scientific Games Enhanced Partnership instant game management program, currently in place with the lottery.
So far, the partnership between both entities has led to a 65% increase in Lotería Electrónica’s sales and an 81% increase in profits between 2005 and 2023 – driven by Scientific Games contributions.
Profits have been utilised to fund social initiatives in Puerto Rico, such as college scholarships for students part of the local public higher education system, as well as health and wellness programs, housing subsidies for seniors, sports and recreation campaigns, and various infrastructure projects.
Now, Scientific Games will upgrade Lotería Electrónica’s existing central system with its proprietary Momentum ecosystem, which will bring the retail player experience up to modern standards through new WAVE retailer terminals, self-service machines, digital advertising displays, jackpot signs and ticket checkers.
Lotería Electrónica will also receive a new mobile app developed in-house by Scientific Games, which will offer players second-chance promotions and a list of convenience features like Keno and jackpot game drawing results.
John Schulz, President of Global Instant Products and the Americas, said: “Our teams worked diligently to propose a strategic full-portfolio solution for Lotería Electrónica that builds upon a strong foundation that began in 2005.
“The overall solution features our most advanced technologies and services supported by a great staff of employees that will power the Lottery for its next era of growth and long-term sustainability.”
