SIS moves to ‘support international expansion’ with two new appointments

SIS (Sports Information Services) has appointed Dr Laila Mintas and Giovanna D’Esposito as Non-Executive Directors, in order to ‘support its international expansion’.

The multi-channel 24/7 live betting services supplier has detailed that both appointees have ‘many years’ experience’ at leading data and technology companies, and will ‘add significant strength’ to the company’s board.

On the European side of operations, D’Esposito has been described as having ‘extensive experience’ in multi-jurisdiction businesses and ‘high level operational excellence’, having held Managing Director roles in Italy for Sky Betting and Gaming and Paddy Power Betfair.

During her tenure at the latter, the firm experienced an annual turnover of over $300 million and a growth of its employee numbers to over 100 within a year. The new appointee currently serves as General Manager (Southern Europe) for transportation service Uber.

“It is an honour to be asked to be a non-exec at SIS and I am eager to get started with Richard and his team as they make further strides in international markets,” D’Esposito explained.

Las Vegas-based Dr Mintas, meanwhile, has been cited as ‘an expert in the legislation and regulation of sports betting’, with 15 years industry experience as former Deputy President of Sportradar USA and CEO of Play UP USA – experience which SIS believes will be ‘invaluable in supporting the US business’ as regulated sports betting rolls our across the country.

Dr Mintas remarked: “These are exciting times for everybody at SIS and I am keen to help them exploit both 30 years’ experience in the UK market and a great portfolio of products and services in the coming months.”

The appointments come as SIS moves to strengthen its position in the burgeoning US betting and gaming market, launching its North America-focused subsidiary SIS Content Services Inc earlier this month.

Internationally, the company has also expanded its digital presence via an investment in Australian racing data science company RACELAB GLOBAL, gaining access to the firm’s proprietary technologies.

“Laila and Giovanna are both tremendous signings for SIS,” said SIS CEO Richard Ames. “We are very much looking forward to working with them and tapping into a combined knowledge that will have serious benefits to our work outside the UK.

“Laila joins following the announcement of our US subsidiary, SIS Content Service Inc, and will be an invaluable support to the team there, whilst Giovanna provides a real boost in European online markets and beyond at a time when our international expansion continues apace.”
