WPT launches NFT poker club powered by GAMAVRS

The World Poker Tour (WPT) has announced the launch of pro-poker’s first NFT club – ‘The Poker Heroes Club’ in collaboration with blockchain developer GAMAVRS.

Officially launched this February, The Poker Heroes Club  aims to engage and reward a new generation of poker fans embracing WPT tournaments and players.

Web 3.0 studio GAMAVRS has established a unique and proprietary Poker NFT community that will work exclusively with WPT, as the event organiser of pro-poker’s biggest online and land-based tournaments hosted across the world.

Members joining the Poker Heroes Club will be able to use their in-game avatars on the WPT’s ‘Global Client’ – the tour’s new online platform for fans and poker players.

Beginning this February, the WPT will auction a total of 9,999 NFT avatars, with the first 250 made available for pre-sale mining.

Players who obtain a single Poker Heroes Club avatar, will gain access to a plethora of benefits including:  “$100,000 freeroll tournaments, million dollar giveaways, an exclusive ‘Members Only Club’, WPT Live events, and most impressively, the chance to play legendary DJ, Steve Aoki, at the ‘celebrity table’.”

In addition, avatar holders will also have the chance to play with other WPT ambassadors, such as Vince Van Patten, Lynn Gilmartin, Tony Dunst, amongst others.

Embracing poker’s NFT future  Adam Pliska, CEO of World Poker Tour said: “GAMAVRS is helping us integrate Poker Heroes into the entire WPT experience – We are confident that players who mint or purchase Poker Heroes will appreciate the wide range of benefits afforded to them.”

WPT and GAMAVRS are also auctioning ‘real-life moments’ of poker’s most historic hands – as 250 Poker Hero moments will be made available for pre-sale in mid-February on the GAMAVRS website.

The NFT value of poker has been demonstrated as superstar  Phil Ivey’s ‘A Legendary Bluff in Poker History– has already sold for 40 ETH – worth + $124,000 at the time of writing.
