PokerStars rolls out UK betting product

PokerstarsAmaya Inc igaming brand PokerStars this weekend launched its sports betting product for the UK market, processing sports betting wagers on select markets via the PokerStars 7 client.

PokerStars’ sports betting product at present is offering a limited selection of sports markets to its UK player base. Sports betting markets available on the client include football, basketball, tennis, rugby union and ice hockey.

The poker operator had announced that it would extend its product inventory to include sports betting at the start of 2015. In April PokerStars announced that it had begun final beta testing on its sports betting product, with a view to roll-out a full betting service in selected markets.

Following its 2014 acquisition of Rational Group (PokerStars and Full Tilt) operations, Amaya Inc has been building PokerStars online sports betting team, which will be based out of PokerStars head office in the Isle of Man.

Amaya senior management has outlined cross-sell initiatives of its poker players to new casino and sports betting verticals as being a fundamental strategy for the company’s future growth plans.

PokerStars is set to support its new casino and sports betting product verticals with new international marketing campaigns, aimed at ramping up coverage and exposure of the operators new product inventory.
