Betsson has secured online casino and sports betting licences in the newly regulated igaming market of Peru for its Betsson and Betsafe brands.
Meanwhile, the Stockholm-listed betting and gaming operator has stated that a licence for Inkabet – its Peruvian-facing sports betting and online casino business – is expected to be obtained soon.
Pontus Lindwall, President and CEO of Betsson AB, explained that the group has been really looking forward to Peru introducing a local regulation and is very pleased with the issuing of these licences.
“With this announcement, we affirm our commitment to the local economy and the new regulatory framework in the country,” Lindwall added.
Betsson has been present in Peru since 2008, before launching its Betsafe brand in the country in 2019, followed by its acquisition of Inkabet two years later.
Alongside Peru, the operator also holds licences across Colombia and Argentina in Latin America, with licences in the Argentinian regions of Buenos Aires City, Buenos Aires province and Córdoba.
Back in May, Lindwall spoke to CasinoBeats about the impact M&A has had on Betsson’s growth across the globe so far.
Betsson has expanded across Europe recently as well, going live with its flagship brand in Italy back in March.
