Matthew Saxon has become the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Gaming Innovation Group (GiG).
Described as an experienced professional in the sector, Saxon will lead the development of GiG’s solutions including engineering and infrastructure, platform migrations as well as GiG Data and GiG Logic.
He has worked across the igaming and financial industry for over 30 years, and now joins the igaming company after more than four years in the role of Senior VP of Technology Strategy and Architecture at Sportradar.
Richard Carter – who was named CEO of GIG’s platform and sportsbook division earlier this year ahead of a major restructuring of the business – commented on the appointment: “Matt’s appointment is a significant step towards helping us reach the high bar we have set for the business.
“We are continuing a process of bringing together the strongest leadership in sports betting and igaming.
“I am confident that his arrival will help further fuel our strategic plans, establishing us as a leader in technological advancement and commerciality across the igaming industry.”
Meanwhile in the payments scene, Saxon’s career has seen him spend over four years at WorldPay, and also as a technical architect at Barclays.
“I am excited to be joining GiG and leading their technology team at the start of what promises to be an extremely impressive growth phase,” Saxon expressed in his new role.
“The foundations that are in place are an amazing springboard to help us accelerate our partners’ businesses. I’m looking forward to helping GiG bring these great capabilities to them, both new and existing.”
Of further significance, this month has also seen GIG successfully issue €75m in senior secured bonds to increase capital funds available for its business.
The bond is made up of two tranches of €45m and SEK350m (€30m) and allows GiG to expand the bond’s total borrowing limit to “€100m equivalent, related to this issue”.
