Mark Renshaw will step up as the new Chief Executive Officer at Spotlight Sports Group where he will lead the company’s next phase of growth across the UK and US markets.
Renshaw, who previously held the position of Chief Operations Officer at Spotlight Sports Group, will take over from Alan Byrne with immediate effect.
Renshaw said: “Alan, I and our management team have spent the last few months crystallising exactly where we can accelerate growth and find new areas of opportunity.
“We’re absolutely clear on where we want to take Spotlight Sports Group and I am tremendously excited about the path we’re on to grow our people and our business. My thanks go to Alan for all of his support during our time working together, and I am delighted he is allowing us to leverage his remarkable experience in his new capacity.
“We have the greatest team we’ve ever had – working on huge betting brands, such as Racing Post in the UK and Pickswise in North America.
“I’m equally excited about our global B2B division, which allows our sportsbook, publishing and fantasy sports partners to leverage our products, content and conversion-led expertise to drive sustainable and attributable revenue growth.”
Byrne will remain on at the company as the Director of the business and will also assume a new advisory role.
He added: “It is a delight to see Mark appointed. He has been at the heart of most of the best things SSG has achieved in recent years and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with him.
“I know Mark has all of the skills required to lead the excellent Spotlight Sports Group team and will continue to drive the growth of the company in the UK, North America and beyond”.
Spotlight Sports Group has been making significant headway in its US expansion as of late. Following the launch of the BetTech Ecosystem report, the company’s Head of B2B Marketing Alan Davis spoke with SBC about the burgeoning opportunity in the North American market.
At the time, he shared his views on the gold rush for player acquisition and subsequent battle for player retention. This, he explained, is where Spotlight Sports Group “comes into its own”.
