Ladbrokes long time serving Head of Football Trading David Burgin has left the operator to join competitor Boylesports.
Industry news source EGR Magazine reports that Burgin has taken up a senior trading position at the Irish independent bookmaker’s Dundalk headquarters.
Burgin departs Ladbrokes following approximately 25 years’ service. The trading expert departure comes just weeks following the announcement that Ladbrokes would be restructure its trading division focusing on automating its operations and IT infrastructure.
September saw Ladbrokes announce the departure of Head of Greyhound Trading Richard Harkness, one of the operator’s longest serving employees.
Burgin joins Boylesports, as the independent operator looks to expand its presence within the UK betting market.
Boylesports Founder and CEO John Boyle detailed to the Media in August that company governance were monitoring closely the potential merger of Ladbrokes and Gala Coral.
If approved by the UK Competition and Markets Authority, the the merger is expected to see hundreds of UK betting shops controlled by the operators placed up for sale, under UK competition rulings.
