Seeking further convergence between its retail sales and mobile channels, UK National Lottery operator Camelot is set to add QR scanning codes to its purchased tickets, allowing players to instantly check their numbers.

QR scanning codes will be attached to draw based game tickets for the UK Lottery and its syndicated competitions Thunderball, Hotpicks and EuroMillions.

Camelot are reported to be making final adjustments to its QR product, which will be launched throughout its mobile platform.

Adding a ticket scanning functionality to its mobile services, sees Camelot continue to focus on optimising its digital product inventory.

Despite a slight decrease in ‘over the counter’ draw based ticket sales, Camelot reported ‘all-time high’ revenues for full-year 2015 due to strong player uptake of its digital services, which saw its GameStore instant-play range hit the £3 billion revenue mark.

Detailing the development of its QR product, Camelot’s Digital Director Tim Copper stated that the service had been introduced due to customer feedback regarding its mobile offering.

Copper further detailed that the new QR scanning service would be backed by a ‘reasonable’ UK marketing campaign.
