Sports data and media right supplier Perform Group (Perform) has announced the launch of OptaUS, its specialised content division for the US market.

Opening commercial offices in New York with the support of data facilities in Charlotte, OptaUS will aim to collect, package, analyse and distribute live data and content for all major US sports.

Perform governance detailed that OptaUS would form part of established European subsidiary Opta.

The service has already begun to collect data for US pro and college basketball and American football. OptaUS expects to add MLB baseball data services by the start of regular season on 3 April

Announcing the launch of OptaUS at Sloan Sports Conference (Boston) Angus McNab, Perform VP Content, North America, declared:

“Opta has had fantastic success in building its business in North America.  Our strong relationships with league partners, such as MLS and now the NASL, have been key to this and we thank them for their support.”

“The services we provide our key broadcasters and digital clients have been very well received in North America, and we aim to continue to offer a high quality product, with affordable price points, in a market in which we believe this has been lacking.”
