Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club sponsors Phoenix Sprint at Curragh

qatarThe Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club has signed a deal with the Curragh racecourse to sponsor the Group 3 Phoenix Sprint on Sunday, 9 August, 2015. The race is run over 6 furlongs.

Nasser Al Kaabi, General Manager of QREC, commented: “We are very pleased to have secured the sponsorship of the Group 3 Phoenix Sprint at The Curragh on 9 August which signifies our first sponsorship with the Irish thoroughbred industry. Ireland compete on the global stage with their horses and we hope that we will see some runners from Ireland at the Qatar Emir’s Sword Festival in February, 2016.”

Charles O’Neill, CEO of Irish Thoroughbred Marketing, commented: “This is a perfect opportunity to promote the Irish thoroughbred industry in one of the world’s most dynamic emerging markets for thoroughbred racing and breeding. There are already strong links between the two nations in terms of racing and breeding, which we hope to build on and there are many opportunities for Qatari individuals to engage with racing education providers in Ireland.”

Evan Arkwright, speaking on behalf of the Curragh Racecourse, commented: “We are looking forward to welcoming members of the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club to the Curragh this Sunday and we are excited about the prospect of developing a very positive long term association with them, as an important part of the overall partnership between Ireland and Qatar.”

Irish Thoroughbred Marketing will be sponsoring at the Qatar International Festival in February, 2016.
