Jeremy Kyle heads up Racing UK Cheltenham Festival campaign

jeremyRacing UK anticipates drama and head to head battles as it has announced the appointment of UK TV talkshow host Jeremy Kyle as the face of its The Festival campaign.

Kyle, a racehorse owner, who has horses with trainers Paul Nicholls and Nick Gifford, will spearhead Racing UK’s marketing campaign around the upcoming Cheltenham Festival (March 10-13).

Racing UK broadcasts horseracing from 34 of the leading British racecourses and is shown on Sky 432 (UK, NI, ROI), Virgin 536 (UK, NI) Freeview (231) and UPC 411 (ROI).

Kyle said: “I am not going to put my name to anything and everything but racing is different. Apart from our kids, racing is mine and (wife) Carla’s number one passion. Whether it’s being on the gallops, at the races, or watching you guys on the telly, I like to be involved.

“Racing UK is a racing organisation owned by the racecourses. It’s synonymous with quality racing, not least the Cheltenham Festival, and I am delighted to support it.

“The Cheltenham Festival is the one week of the whole year which I block off before anything else. I hire a house and go down for the whole week.

“I hope to have a couple of horses running in the shape of Dormello Mo in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ race and Old Guard in the Fred Winter or Triumph. My best chance could be Old Guard, who will be my first ever runner at the Festival. He beat the highly-regarded Karezak on his first run for us and could go well at a big price.”

Kyle, whose The Jeremy Kyle Show is Britain’s biggest talk show, will be the focus of a far-reaching multimedia subscription campaign and will also appear as a pundit on the channel for each of the four days of the Cheltenham Festival. Kyle urges fans to enjoy the “drama”, “head to head battles” and “be part of it when it all kicks off” by joining the subscription channel via a TV advert (click to watch), which will air on Channel 4 and Setanta.

The campaign will also be communicated via direct marketing, digital inventory, press adverts and racecards (available on request).

Racing UK’s Director of Marketing, Clive Cottrell, added: “Jeremy is hugely passionate and knowledgeable about racing, He has had countless offers to work with other brands but Racing UK appealed as we’re a well-known and respected organization, which returns all its profits to the sport.”
