Shaun SimmondsThroughout the month of March, we will be announcing a new Betting on Football Conference (#BOFCON) speaker every day.

Shaun Simmonds has been in the sports betting industry for 4 years having started out as a freelance sportswriter and staff copywriter for Panbet.

He is currently Head of Sponsorship for Marathonbet and will be returning to Betting on Football for the third time, and the second time as a speaker in April 2016.

Which Football club do you support?

West Ham United.

How do you judge their season so far?

Fantastic. Us fans got our man in Slaven Bilic and he has brought in some great players this season. On his day, Dimitri Payet would get into any side – plus he is a real crowd pleaser. We seem to have built on the foundations that Sam Allardyce left behind and the West Ham way has been reborn ahead of the club’s move to the Olympic Stadium.

How does your role with Marathonbet involve you in both Betting and Football?

I work on the brand’s partnerships with Manchester United, Liverpool FC, Hibernian, Tottenham Hotspur, Derby County and Middlesbrough and have previously worked with Fulham, West Ham United and Dynamo Kiev.

Why did you want to speak at Betting on Football 2016?

I was on a panel at the event last year and found it very useful to hear what my peers are doing. It’s also a great platform to showcase the great work that my team is doing within sponsorship. It’s a good opportunity to network too – last year I was lucky enough to catch up with a lot of familiar faces.

What will you be discussing on your panel session?

I’ll be discussing how sponsorship can be used as an effective vehicle for increased brand exposure and growth. In such a competitive industry, challenger brands can use sponsorship as a catalyst for accelerated growth on a global scale. I’ll be discussing how we have used our assets to smash our KPIs – paying particular attention to the UK.

What are you most excited about ahead of the conference?

Having seen the line-up, I’m particularly looking forward to the content marketing and football discussion. This is an area that is integral to our club partnerships and we have a few really engaging pieces coming out soon, so it would be good to get some insight and a few pointers from the experts.
