Bruno Kovacic – SuperBet

Croatian tech news source Netokracija.com has reported that Romanian betting group SuperBet Group has acquired Zagreb-based technology development studio Axilis.

The acquisition will see Axilis become the lead development hub of SuperBet’s planned proprietary sportsbook platform launch.

Both companies maintain an existing working relationship, with Axilis having led the frontend redevelopment of SuperBet new website, which was launched in ‘beta mode’ this August.

SuperBet undertakes its technology investment, having secured €175 million in funding from US private equity fund Blackstone Group last May, with the company seeking to become the leading online gambling domain for Romania and the wider Eastern European marketplace.

Founded by former Microsoft programmer Bruno Kovacic in 2011, Axilis has been consistently ranked as a leading Croatian technology firm by ‘Big 4’ accountancy firm Deloitte’s ‘Fast-50’ technology index for Central Europe.

The acquisition will see SuperBet absorb Axilis 50-man engineering team, with Bruno Kovacic joining SuperBet’s executive leadership team as new Group Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
