Regulus acquires GBGC to meet ‘greater need for high-quality data’

Strategic advisory firm Regulus Partners has acquired Global Betting & Gaming Consultants (GBGC), intending to leverage the latter’s proven capabilities and ‘high-quality team’.

Regulus, which focuses on the sports and leisure industries including gambling, will incorporate GBGC’s global betting and gaming data and reports into its wider portfolio.

The firm – which contributes regularly to SBC’s Winning Post series examining the betting’s regulatory affairs and developments – aims to further enhance its ability to provide ‘accurate and reliable global gambling data and market analysis’ to the industry.

Paul Leyland, Regulus Co-Founder, said: “The GBGC database and team are a great fit for Regulus because they have always been as accurate and thorough as possible in an often opaque and uncertain environment.

“We intend to invest further in the team’s proven capabilities to ensure that we develop a market-leading product. Given the increasing scale and complexity of the industry, there has never been a greater need for high-quality data and we are delighted to welcome such a high-quality team to the Regulus family.”

The merger will see GBGC’s Isle of Man and Croatia-based research team join London-based Regulus to develop a leading data product.

Regulus pre-existing advisory and analysis operations will be combined with GBGC’s data portal and research team in pursuit of this objective, with the latter’s founder, Warwick Bartlett, continuing to serve as a non-executive Director.

Bartlett added: “Regulus is a good fit for GBGC because we both complement each other in so many ways. The combined business will be able to offer the gambling industry and its stakeholders an unapparelled service.

“The clients of both our businesses will benefit tremendously from the additional services that will assist them in the management and expansion of their businesses.”
