The German Sports Betting Association (DSWV) has incorporated Mindway AI’s Gamalyze gambling behaviour self-testing solution onto its website, at a time of heightened focus on player protection in Germany.
Gamalyze assesses player betting behaviour and provides participants with a score and actionable tips such as budget setting, taking breaks or making personal use of winnings rather than for more gambling.
The solution utilises neuroscientific findings to analyse how players react to ‘certain stimuli’ such as temporary losses or gains. The DSWV’s use of Gamalyze further strengthens Better Collective-owned Mindway’s links to the European sector, following an agreement last month with Entain’s Dutch holding, BetCity.
Rasmus Kjaergaard, CEO of Mindway AI, remarked: “Gamalyze analyses the game behaviour under real-world conditions, namely while the player randomly draws cards with which he either wins or loses money.
“Even if it’s just play money, the personal risk of risky gambling behaviour can be determined much better than with classic questionnaires.”
Player protection has become a key topic of discussion in the German gambling space in recent years, particularly in the context of the 2021 re-regulation of the market under the Fourth Interstate Gambling Treaty (GlüNeuRStv).
One of the most significant outcomes of the legislation was the creation of a federal German regulator, the Gluecksspiel (GGL), which is due to host its first “joint exchange meeting of state coordinators” this year, where adoption of player protection measures will be a major talking point.
The DSWV has acknowledged the potential risks that come with betting as well as the challenges of adopting player protection measures to an increasingly digitised gambling landscape, and hopes that its use of Mindway AI’s tech will benefit in this area.
Mathias Dahms, DSWV President, said: “The DSWV is always working with its members and partners to make legal gambling more attractive for customers.
“The fun of the game is what unites us all. Player protection is a central component of this. We are pleased that we can improve player protection in Germany together with Mindway AI and now also make a self-test available to players and interested persons on our homepage.
“Gambling has never been as safe for customers in Germany as it is today in the legal market. The gambling and sports betting industry is a driver of innovation in many digital areas – including gambling addiction prevention.”
