SBC Digital Innovation – Sportsbook Tech Day to examine future of betting technology

The SBC Digital Innovation – Sportsbook Tech online conference is set to take place on 20 March 2024, when speakers from a host of major operators will share their insights on the future of the industry’s key technologies.

The event, which is hosted in partnership with Soft2Bet, will feature five sessions that examine some of the major developments in the industry ahead of a busy summer calendar that includes Euro 2024, the Copa América in the US and the Paris Olympics.

Among the panels is ‘The journey from transactional sportsbook to modern entertainment platform’, which will look at how operators can effectively integrate gamified engagement tools, live-streamed action and athlete data to create a one-stop shop for sports fans.

The panel includes Andrey Zaitsev, Head of Sportsbook at Soft2Bet, Owen Ordway, Head of Sports for PressEnter Group, and Giannis Paraschos, Head of Sportsbook Product at Novibet.

Looking ahead to the discussion, Zaitsev said: “Sportsbook operators can implement gamification by creating interactive challenges, tournaments and rewards for players, encouraging active participation and retention. Also by incorporating levelling systems and progress tracking, operators can enhance player engagement and motivation to continue using the platform.

“Utilising gamification techniques, such as personalised offers and bonuses based on player behaviour, can create a more dynamic and enjoyable betting experience, ultimately leading to higher engagement levels.”

Another highlight of the agenda is the ‘Helping casinos to make the most of the sports betting jackpot’ session, which will feature Yoel Zuckerberg, CPO of Soft2Bet, Matt Garrigan, Senior Director, Sports Betting & Business Development for Underdog Fantasy, and Ivan Kurochkin, Partner at 4H Agency.

Ahead of the discussion about the best way for casino operators to integrate a sports betting offer ahead of a busy summer of sport, Zuckerberg said: “Launching a sportsbook requires careful consideration of several key features to ensure its success. Providing a broad range of markets is crucial to attract bettors, as are competitive odds that are backed up by clever promotions.

“A seamless UI-UX across all channels will help retain customers with key products such as in-play betting and bet builders. Strong risk management practices are essential, while data analytics help assess customer behaviours and market dynamics so operators can tailor their product and customer support strategies.”

The day will kick-off with ‘What’s next for Bet Builder?’, in partnership with OpenBet. The panel will see Aidan Barry, Group Head of Sportsbook Product Performance and Trading Strategy for Fortuna Entertainment Group, Andre Zammit, VP of Sportsbook at Tipico, and Luke Saunders, Senior Commercial Director for SportCast debate the future of one of betting’s most popular products.

Attendees can also look forward to ‘Driving engagement from a summer of soccer’, which will look at the opportunities presented to sportsbook operators by this year’s two major international tournaments. The panel includes Jens Nielsen, Sports Betting Director for Danske Spil, Tristan Wootton, Director of Growth at Fitzdares, Myke Foster, Group Head of Gaming & Commercial Strategy for Fortuna Entertainment Group, and Dean Akinjobi, CEO of Football Media.

The day will conclude with ‘Is AI set to revolutionise the trading room?’, a deep dive into the issue of how much this most disruptive of technologies is likely to influence working practices in the industry. Speakers set to offer their insights include Ivan Gojic, Head Of Risk, Strategic Partnerships and In Play Trading at Superbet, Ian Perrygrove, Chief Risk Officer of Kwiff, Matthew Trenhaile, Owner of Anubis Trading, and Christina Thakor-Rankin, Principal Consultant at 1710 Gaming.
