Sportsbook solutions developer Betby is doubling down on its efforts in chess, upgrading its content portfolio in the sport to offer a wider variety of betting options.
Betby has added event-specific outcomes to its chess betting markets, making the offering more specific with betting options like first piece captured, number of checks, castlings, and whether a game will end in a stalemate, among others.
The company appears to be moving to make its chess betting proposition more similar to that seen on less niche markets, like football – where punters can bet on goals, corners, cards and scorelines, etc.
“Chess has always been a passion of ours, and today we’re proud to announce the launch of a truly comprehensive chess offering,” said Kirill Nekrasov, Head of Sportsbook Product at BETBY.
“By expanding our market depth and introducing innovative tournaments, including both traditional and AI-driven formats, we’re giving our partners and players a completely new way to engage with the game.”
Chess has been a target market for Betby for some time, having partnered with Magnus Carlsen, five-time World Chess Champion, as a brand ambassador earlier this year, to help promote its chess betting markets.
Esports, however, has also been a major focus market for Betby over the past few years, and the firm is now looking at linking up one of its more historic products with its new ambitions in chess.
Betby is particularly looking at leveraging the inclusion of chess in the Esports World Cup, noting that the convergence of the two verticals this presents is a good opportunity for the company.
Nekrasov concluded: “Our vision is ambitious: we want chess and betting to become synonymous, to the point where no modern sportsbook feels complete without chess markets. We’ve already done this with Betby.Games and esports, now it’s time to do the same with chess.”
