Altenar has formed an extended sportsbook deal with Starcasino as the latter makes its official debut in the Netherlands.
The sports betting and iGaming software provider, based in the Isle of Man, had previously partnered with Starcasino in a Belgium-focused deal which the duo state achieved within three years.
Alejandro Cazorla, Senior Sales Manager at Altenar, described the move as a significant milestone since the collaboration began back in 2022.
He commented: “We’re proud to support Starcasino’s expansion from Belgium into the Dutch market. This growth reflects the strength of our sportsbook platform, built with the flexibility to innovate and the rigour to meet complex regulatory demands. It’s a testament to our commitment to long-term customer success and delivering scalable, compliant solutions.”
The deal sees Altenar’s technology again power the company’s sportsbook in a brand new region, expanding its European reach which already includes deals formed in the Czech Republic, Italy and Peru this year alone.
“Following the success of our collaboration with Altenar in Belgium, Starcasino is thrilled to introduce a unique sportsbook platform to the Dutch market,” added Pieter van den Bos, Director at Starcasino.
“We firmly believe that Altenar’s cutting-edge features, combined with Starcasino’s competitive odds and exclusive promotional tools, create a fresh and innovative betting experience tailored for sports enthusiasts in the Netherlands.”
Expansion and personalisation
Altenar continues to focus on building stronger experiences for both its customers and partners.
March in particular was a busy month of collaborations for the brand, turning to Optimove for ways to enhance its B2B products and then utilising the Opti-X digital experience platform.
At the same time, Altenar also linked up with igaming software provider Elantil to integrate its sports betting software into its offering. This marked the first online sportsbook to launch on the Elantil Marketplace, with Altenar’s turnkey solution now available to operators through a streamlined integration.
Meanwhile, Altenar also signed a partnership with MerkurXtip to provide its fully-managed sportsbook solution to the Czech operator. Another milestone personalisation-focused launch for the company was its Bet Builder Boost a month prior, which was designed to elevate the product experience for both operators and players.
Altenar now offers a new betting option that aims to enhance the user experience, particularly for pre-live markets. It also enables operators to increase player retention without sacrificing margins.
Altenar’s move in the Netherlands makes a lot of sense given the high growth experienced by the Dutch market since 2021. It does also come at a time of increasing regulatory pressure though, with concerns raised in particular over the extensive of black market operations.
The Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) regulator currently estimates that unlicensed operators have managed to capture more than half of total online GGR. This may be as a result of growing regulatory pressure and increasing tax rates.
The Dutch government is now in the process of reforming its gambling law and is preparing to present a new Remote Gambling Act to parliament by the end of the year.
