Betsson sponsors second Nordic tennis tournament

Betsson has become the official betting partner of Swedish ATP tennis tournament Nordea Open.

Taking place from 15-21 July in Båstad, Sweden, the classic clay tournament, previously called the Swedish Open, will this year host prominent players such as the world No. 1 ranked Jannik Sinner and the king of clay, Rafael Nadal.

The Swedish Open is among the oldest tennis tournaments in the world, with roots dating back to 1948. This year’s tournament will be broadcast in 90 countries, with an estimated 40-50 million viewers.

Ronni Hartvig, Chief Commercial Officer of Betsson Group, expressed: “We are incredibly proud of our partnership with Nordea Open, which this year features world-class stars.

“Betsson has long been involved in tennis, both in Sweden and globally, but it is difficult to find a more fantastic environment than tennis in Båstad.”

Besides the Nordea Open, Betsson has also already been named the main sponsor for this autumn’s BNP Paribas Nordic Open in Stockholm.

“We are very proud to welcome Betsson as a new partner to the Nordea Open. Betsson joins a strong partner family, and through its commitment will further consolidate the event’s position and presence on the international tennis scene,” added Sara Bergh, Operations Manager at Nordea Open.

Previously in tennis, Betsson had former world star Jonas Björkman as an ambassador and sponsored ATP tournaments in South America.

The operator is also currently the main sponsor of football teams Inter, Boca Juniors and Atlético Nacional

Betsson will publish its interim report for the second quarter of 2024 on 19 July.
