GGBET UA states that its sponsorship of the undisputed heavyweight boxing bout between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury has driven strong engagement.
The Ukrainian esports betting platform experienced an influx of customers and a boost in its overall product metrics as a result of sponsoring the live stream of the fight on 18 May.
Conducted via media service MEGEGO, the stream allowed viewers in Usyk’s home country of Ukraine to watch the fight, which he won via unanimous decision to claim the WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF heavyweight belts.
“Not only has Oleksandr Usyk collected all of the heavyweight belts, he has once again demonstrated the indomitable Ukrainian spirit to the whole world,” said GGBET UA CEO Dmytro Voshkarin.
“We’re proud to see such a talented athlete from our country write his name in the pages of boxing history with the likes of Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield.”
Headquartered in Kyiv, GG.BET has expanded its reach substantially over the past few years. The firm has notably found success in the UK, as explained by Voshkarin and Sergii Mishchenko, CEO at GGBET UK, in an interview with SBC News last year.
However, its founding market of Ukraine continues to be of significance for the firm. This has included humanitarian efforts in the context of the Russian invasion, and support for the country’s national sports figures.
Voshkarin continued: “Events of such scale have amazing potential for the igaming industry; one fight can have more money bet on it than an entire week of the FIFA World Cup group stage.
“On the day of the fight, we noticed a significant influx of new customers, and the number of first deposits was 471% higher than on an average day. All in all, activity on our platform grew significantly. The number of unique users peaked at 157% higher than normal. The number of bets grew by 73%, and the total stake of all bets by 79%.”
