Digitain appoints Simon Westbury to Sport Generate leadership

Long-time Digitain Executive Simon Westbury has found a new role in the company, having been appointed as CEO of the Sport Generate division. 

Westbury has been tasked with spearheading the strategic direction of Digtain’s sports unit, targeting heighted reach and impact for Sport Generate in global markets. 

This will include a focus on product development and innovation, working closely with Sport Generate’s management teams to deliver its live sports, esports, virtual and oddsfeed offering.

Westbury remarked: “I am honored to be given the opportunity to lead Sport Generate at such an exciting time in the industry.

“Sport Generate’s Table football, table tennis, esports, virtual sports have a reputation for excellence and innovation, and I am looking forward to working with the talented teams to continue that legacy and make a real impact in the industry. I also thank Mr. Vardanyan for the trust and faith he has put in me in appointing me to this role. “

First joining Digitain in June 2019 as Head of International Development, Westbury was promoted to Head of Sales in January 2020 before becoming Chief Business Officer in January 2021.

Prior to joining the company, he has accumulated experience of the sports and betting sectors in a variety of roles over a 15 year career, including tenures at Sheffield United FC and VSoftCo, finishing his time at the latter in the capacity of Chief Commercial Officer.

The appointment of Westbury to head development and growth at Sport Generate follows two other major announcements as Digitain targets further expansion in 2023.

Last month, the company opened a new office in Bucharest to support European growth, closely following this with the launch of Paydrom, bolstering its presence in the payments sector.
