Ghana gains latest international operator as bet365 makes Africa debut

In a major expansion of its African operations, bet365 has confirmed that it has launched a sportsbook offering in Ghana.

Lauding the development as a ‘landmark moment’ for the Stoke-based global operator, bet365 confirmed that its site went live in Ghana on Friday 18 November.

The firm intended to launch an offering in the country in time for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, in which Ghana is a participant, with football being a hugely popular national sport.

“We are delighted to announce the launch of a dedicated bet365 website for customers in Ghana,” a bet365 spokesperson commented on the market entry.

“In a country with such a passion for sports, particularly football, we are excited to provide an unrivalled sports betting experience, with a key focus on both localised and international markets.”

Ghanaian customers will be able to access bet365 via a web page and on iPhone and Android apps, whilst the firm’s localised offering will feature a range of betting markets.

This will include streaming of and in-play betting on leagues such as the German Bundesliga, Spanish La Liga, NBA, NFL, NHL, baseball and international tennis, for a total of 75 sports and 600,000 live events.

Lastly, bet365 also added that its sign-up offer and ‘wide selection’ of promotions, features and bonuses have also been incorporated into its offering for the Ghanaian market.

“It was our preferred location for our first launch into Africa, as one of the most highly regulated, and highly regarded betting markets on the continent,” the bet365 spokesperson continued.

“With the World Cup underway, we’re thrilled to deliver our In-Play product as well as a portfolio of tournament promotions for new and eligible customers across the country.”

bet365’s expansion in Africa comes amid a period of global growth for the firm, which has established itself as a prominent leader in multiple markets, having secured licences in the US states of New Jersey and Colorado.
