Codere promotes women’s sporting empowerment with $300k investment

As part of its “#CodereConEllas” campaign, Spanish-market facing operator Codere Online has announced a $300,000 investment into women’s football.

Specifically donating the funds into women’s football in Mexico, the Spain and Latin America-focused company will direct the money into the ‘She Wins’ NGO.

An organisation which aims to empower women through sports and education, She Wins stated that it shares a goal with Codere to ‘achieve gender equality and reinforce the empowerment of women from sports and education’.

Claudia Angélica Pacheco López, Coordinator of Social Networks for Codere Online in Mexico, said: “It is very gratifying to be able to connect our social objective with our Real Madrid CF teams in Latin America, or the Monterrey Rayados Football Club.

“With them, we share values of responsibility and the satisfaction of giving the best of ourselves for our people. Together, we now do our bit so that many women achieve their dream of turning soccer into the best bet of their lives.”

Pacheco López was in attendance at a ceremony at the Hipodromo de las Américas in Mexico City – which Codere operates – to mark the commencement of the partnership on 8 July.

She was joined by Leticia Palacios, Operations Director of Codere Online in Mexico; Cecilia Vales, General Director of She Wins; and professional footballer Nailea Vidrio.

Codere outlined that the collaboration forms part of its wider social responsibility strategy geared towards women’s sports, with the #CodereConEllas campaign focusing on promotion of digital meetings with professional women’s football stakeholders.

This includes players, technicians and administrators, among others, who are depicted in the video series ‘demonstrating their skill with the ball’.

Codere Online originated as the online gaming subsidiary of Bolsa Madrid gambling group Codere, before being merged with the SPAC DD3 Acquisition Corp. II in a $350m transaction.

The firm later registered on the US Nasdaq stock exchange, becoming the first Latin America-oriented betting operator to do so. In a recent expansion of its operations, the brand secured market entry into the Buenos Aires sector.
