After a week of international fixtures, punters have gone cold on the Premier League while putting together their accumulator bets.
Data from AccaTracker, the mobile app that helps punters keep on top of their bets, shows that two of the top five most popular matches in people’s multiple bets this weekend feature teams from lower down the divisions.
Not surprisingly, given their 100% record and the fact that they’ve scored ten unanswered goals this season, Man City are a mainstay of punters’ multiple bets, even if they have their biggest challenge of the season so far – away at high flying Crystal Palace.
The surprising inclusion in the top five though are two championship matches, Charlton verses Rotherham and Middlesbrough’s home match against newly promoted MK Dons. However the Premier League still dominates the top ten most popular matches, providing seven of the most popular match-ups.
Team FA Director of Marketing Tim Pindar commented: “Middlesbrough have featured high on previous weekends, underlining the belief of punters that Aitor Karanka’s side are strong favourites for promotion. However the popularity of Charlton’s match against Rotherham shows it isn’t always easy to predict what the punters are betting on, especially still relatively early in the season. It’s always fascinating to find these outliers in our data.”
