Ghanaian Football League Champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC have announced the first ever sponsorship between a Ghana professional football club and a bookmaker. The football club announced that it had signed a three year betting partnership with African focused sports betting operator – Supabets – http://www.supabets.com.gh/Sport/Default.aspx
Kumasi Asante Kotoko senior management announced that the new deal with Supabets was worth GH Cedi 360,000, with the 2014 league champions receiving GH Cedi 120,000 (£21,500 / €26,500) annually from the bookmaker.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko Operations Manager Kennedy George commented on the new partnership “That is the latest development in the club. We have signed a new sponsorship deal. Looking at the figures and the entire offer, it is the second highest deal after that of MTN. They will have their insignia over our jerseys, on our bus, at our training ground, home matches and so on”.
“It is important to state that, we have a crucial role to play to make this relationship a meaningful one. We will adhere strictly to the demands of the contract for mutual benefits”.
