BoyleSports boosts Best Turned Out prize pot at Irish Grand National

BoyleSports has upped the prize pot for the Best Turned Out horse at the Irish Grand National to €1,000.

As the title sponsor of the competition held at the Fairyhouse track, BoyleSports has said that it looks to use the occasion to ‘recognise the hard work put in by stable staff year in, year out’.

Sharon McHugh, Head of PR & Sponsorship at BoyleSports, commented: “We are very proud to celebrate our tenth year sponsoring this legendary race.

“We know they’ll have some innovative ideas brewing and we can’t wait to see them come to life on Easter Monday, so may the prettiest horse win!”

The boosted purse celebrates the operator’s tenth year as sponsor of the race, which offers a total of €500,000 in prize money to those who are looking to follow the Willie Mullins-trained I Am Maximus onto an illustrious list of winners.

In January BoyleSports also confirmed an extension of the partnership for a further three years, adding further races at Leopardstown and Navan to its roster.

Meanwhile, Eventer Joseph Murphy, who is hoping to make an Olympic return as part of the Irish Showjumping team in Paris this summer, has been enlisted to judge the craft on display before the race and has been handed the enviable task of picking a winner.

“This is a terrific gesture by BoyleSports and I’m glad to see stable staff recognised for the continued care and attention they give their horses,” added Murphy. “They are a very creative bunch so I’m looking forward to seeing their ingenuity showcased on Easter Monday.”

BoyleSports also described its new ‘pamper hamper’ of aids to ‘fuel imagination’ of stable staff, which includes stencils, blue glitter hoof oil, coloured bands and expert tips and tricks to elevate grooming games in the lead up to the big race on Easter Monday.
