The UK Tote Group has widened the scope of its pool betting coverage in partnership with 1/ST Content, delivering North American horse racing to its customers.
The first phase of the rollout has seen win, place, exacta and trifecta products made available to Tote bettors, beginning with the Pegasus World Cup over the weekend, with over $43m wagered across the racecard.
Sky Sports Racing has broadcast betting on the North American schedule, with streaming available via the UK Tote’s app, and bets placed via the operator’s website, mobile and iOS app and text betting.
Simon Fraser, Senior Vice President International at 1/ST Content, said: “It’s another exciting partnership with a brand synonymous with racing. We’re looking forward to seeing how Tote customers receive the offering across a different time zone with an improved customer experience.”
A distributor of North American racing content, 1/ST Content handles a network of 60 racecourses, and will provide ‘associated data and content’ such as silks and ratings to Tote punters.
The UK pool betting operator will include a North American racing package on its sites and apps, with support from 1/ST, to complement the betting offering, featuring the Danger, Alternative and Dark Horse tips.
Alex Frost, Chief Executive of the UK Tote Group, added: “With pool betting being the main source of liquidity for US horse racing, this is a timely and important development for our customers, and the first time regular North American racing will be offered as a Tote product in the UK and Ireland on a daily basis.
“We remain committed to ensuring the reach of racing products continues to expand for our customers, and this is a further step to ensure UK and Irish Tote customers can bet into the biggest pools across the world.”
Expanding the global reach and connectivity of horse racing has been a key area of focus for the UK Tote, as Alex Frost explained in an interview with SBC Leaders.
Further bolstering the reach of Tote betting, the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) – the founder of the World Pool, of which the UK Tote is a key partner – expanded the number of World Pool days from 21 to 25 last week.
