UK TV production company Boundless Productions, have been given the go ahead by the BBC to commission a television documentary on retail betting shops. Boundless Productions have selected to film the goings-on of a Coral high street betting shop, in a special three part BBC documentary named ‘The Bookies’.
Emma Willis Head of Documentary Programing at the BBC gave further insight into the context of the planned TV documentary.
“The Documentary, will give insight into how the betting industry works and the everyday realities of life on the betting shop floor. It will also try to detail why as a nation we are betting more than ever”.
The documentary series will film the Coral UK retail management team as they open new betting shops. It will document the challenges faced by Coral retail management and will cover how the operator deals with social issues such as problem gambling.
Boundless Productions are specialists in the TV documentary format having filmed popular entertainment documentaries such as World’s Toughest Jobs, Great British Railway Journeys and World’s Best Diets.
The BBC have not given any further detail as to when the documentary series will be aired.
