Oddschecker reveals itself as buyer of SuperScommesse

Oddschecker Global Media has disclosed that it has acquired the Italian sports media property, SuperScommesse, from Catena Media.

This morning, publishing its Q3 trading update, Catena Media informed that it had sold all of its Italian media properties to two undisclosed buyers for €19.8m.

Oddschecker, known as the UK and Australia’s largest sports betting publisher, would later announce that it had acquired the SuperScommesse.it asset to expand its presence in Italy.

“The deal sees OGM further expand into Europe’s second-largest betting market to consolidate its position as the country’s top sports betting advertising company,” Oddschecker detailed.

Of strategic significance, SuperScommesse will enhance Oddschecker’s existing Italian media partnerships with Gazzetta dello Sport and DAZN Italia. These partnerships leverage tens of millions of unique users and include two popular TV shows.

The acquisition is set to accelerate the development of the ‘Confido Network’, Oddschecker’s new affiliate partner programme. This program covers over 1,000 deals from more than 200 global operators, a key growth initiative announced earlier in November 2023.

Stuart Simms, CEO of Oddschecker Media Group, commented on the acquisition: “As the growth of sports betting continues rapidly in this enthusiastic market, we wanted to double down on our presence in this key territory. We see SuperScommesse as the ideal strategic complement to our strong Italian footprint.

“We’re looking forward to servicing SuperScommesse’s customer base with an enhanced product that merges Oddschecker’s expertise with the well-regarded SuperScommesse brand name and local knowledge. This comes at a time when the market still has significant growth potential as it transitions to an online, cashless identity.

“The trend towards digitalization is unmistakable, and the synergies are as clear as they are beneficial: the Italian market allows for odds comparison as a consumer service, and we aim to remain the pre-eminent odds comparison provider.”
