Virtual video sports producer Highlight Games has expanded its international operations by securing a Romanian gaming licence.
The Romanian Gambling Authority has awarded the firm a Class II gambling licence enabling it to launch its flagship Soccerbet and NBA Last 60 products, among other offerings.
SOCCERBET and NBA Last 60 will be available in English, Turkish and Italian variants, and will go live to Romanian customers in the first quarter of 2021.
Steven Holmes, Co-CEO, Highlight Games, said: ‘I’m delighted to confirm that our products are now available to our partners in Romania.”
“Europe is a hugely important market for our business, and it’s fantastic to now include Romania in the list of countries in which our games are now available.
“Highlight Games’ total online turnover in Italy has increased by 455% since the start of the first national lockdown in 2020, demonstrating the continuing growth in popularity of our video virtuals across all channels.
“We look forward to recreating the successes we have seen in Italy within the Romanian virtual sports market.”
The move into the Romanian gambling sector is the latest in a series of expansions by the London based operator.
In October 2020 the firm launched operations in the Philippines after forging an agreement with Kirschner Games International (KGI) in association with Broomhead Holdings Inc. and interactive marketing firm Red Dot Singapore.
Nick Gardiner, the firm’s other Co-CEO, stated that the deal would “deliver a unique betting experience unlike any other currently available” in the Philippines betting market.
This was followed by a UK deal in December which saw Soccerbet go live in all JenningsBet retail venues across the country.
The virtual football platform – described by JenningsBet Managing Director Julian Knight as ‘unlike anything else in our product offering’ – is the highest selling product in the European virtual sports market.
In addition to Soccerbet, the company’s NBA Last 60 and NBA Last 90 products are also popular, particularly among US sports fans.
