Gor Mnatsakanyan: Denmark licence is another ‘feather in the cap’ for BetConstruct

The Danish market presents a whole range of new opportunities for BetConstruct to expand its global footprint. And according to Gor Mnatsakanyan – the company’s Regional Director for Germany – this new licence gives BetConstruct the chance to become a leading force within the Danish gambling space.

In an interview with SBC News, Mnatsakanyan walks us through the licensing process and the key regulatory challenges that gambling companies might face in Denmark, before touching upon BetConstruct’s plans for further global expansion.

SBC: Congratulations on receiving a licence for the Danish market! Why has now been the right time for BetConstruct to enter Denmark?

GM: Thank you! As a part of our ongoing expansion into the European market, we have decided to enter the Danish market. Denmark’s attractive and fast-growing market makes it a sound business decision. Moreover, with their well-formed regulations, they have achieved one of the highest channelisation rates to the regulated market in the EU, making it even more appealing.

We are confident that our technologies and services can offer something innovative to both existing operators and startups in Denmark, and we look forward to exploring new niches together.

SBC: What are your key aims for this market?

GM: Our primary goal is to provide our award-winning products and services to both established operators and new entrants in the Danish market across all possible verticals. We plan to offer our highly competitive White Label, Turnkey, and API solutions, which will provide more flexibility and new revenue opportunities to the fast-growing Danish market.

In addition to our main products, such as sports betting and gaming suites, we also aim to offer our in-house developed games, including PopOk, with its colourful and fantastic games and live casino options. In the near future, we also plan to offer Danish players our CreedRoomz and Pascal products. Ultimately, we aspire to become one of the key players in the Danish market.

SBC: How does it feel to be one of the first providers to receive a licence from Spillmyndigheden?

GM: It was a challenging and lengthy process, and we invested significant effort to obtain the licence from Spillmyndigheden. We are honoured to be one of the first providers to offer our award-winning sportsbook, gaming solutions, in-house developed games and services to the Danish market.

SBC: From your experience, what were the key challenges associated with obtaining a Danish licence?

GM: Acquiring a Danish gambling licence was a challenging process that required an in-depth understanding of the country’s gambling laws and regulations. Compliance with the Danish Gambling Act was critical, as it established the conditions for obtaining and maintaining a licence.

The application process was lengthy and complex, requiring detailed information on the company’s ownership structure, financials, and policies and procedures related to responsible gambling, anti-money laundering, and data protection.

BetConstruct was able to demonstrate its ability to operate a gambling business in Denmark effectively. We were able to showcase our expertise in the industry, as we already have operations in some of the most strictly regulated markets, such as the UK, Malta, Italy and Sweden. Our B2C and B2B operations in Romania, Belgium, Malta and the UK further showcased our capabilities.

Overall, obtaining a Danish casino and sports betting licence requires careful planning, thorough preparation, and significant investments of time and resources. BetConstruct successfully overcame these challenges to obtain the necessary licence.

SBC: Can you tell us what you will offer operators within the Danish market? And how does this differ from your offering in other European jurisdictions?

GM: Obtaining a licence for online casino and betting operations in the Danish market provides several advantages. Firstly, it adds legitimacy and credibility to our business, building trust among players and attracting more customers.

Additionally, it opens up a rapidly expanding market and allows us to offer a diverse range of games, such as slots, table games, poker and sports betting.

Moreover, it creates opportunities for partnerships with other businesses in the industry while ensuring compliance with strict Danish gambling laws and regulations.

Finally, having a Danish online casino and betting licence increases brand recognition, giving us a competitive edge over unlicensed competitors. Overall, we believe that obtaining this licence will help us establish a strong foothold in the online gambling industry and provide us with unique advantages for our business.

SBC: Are there other markets high on BetConstruct’s agenda for 2023?

GM: We are currently expanding our business into new markets and verticals. I am excited to share that we are in the final stages of obtaining our B2B licence in Ontario, and we are in the process of applying for B2C licences in the Netherlands and Romania.

Additionally, we are currently in the process of obtaining a new B2B licence in Sweden. These market entries and expansions are part of our overall growth strategy, and we are looking forward to offering our products and services to new customers in these regions.
