This week’s 6 of the Best comes from Andy Jarrett, Twelve40 CEO.

Best Holiday

I’m very lucky to have visited some amazing places, but if I had to pick one I’d say the Maldives. It was technically my honeymoon, but we had such a great time, that I’d rank it as my best holiday too!  The best part was diving with whale sharks (just don’t tell the wife!)

I also love the Strawberry Hill Resort in Jamaica, which is nestled in the blue mountains overlooking Kingston. It’s a great mountaintop getaway and the food and drink are second to none.

Best Album

I’ve listened to plenty over the years, and it really depends on my mood, but the one that sticks out is Oasis’ (What’s the story) Morning Glory. I loved listening to it when I was younger and I still enjoy it now, it’s a fantastic album by a timeless band. Though nowadays, with streaming services being so prevalent, I do tend to stream a lot of my music through playlists.

Best Sporting Experience

They say it’s the race that stops a nation and it certainly didn’t disappoint! I was very fortunate to go to the Melbourne Cup a few years ago and I was blown away by the whole event. Not only is it top quality horse racing, but the atmosphere was absolutely incredible and you feel very immersed in the whole extravaganza. I really would recommend it to any sports fan, it’s an event that you must go and be a part of.

Best Film

Of the classics, Pulp Fiction is one of my favourite movies. I’m also a big fan of a newer film called The Business which stars Danny Dyer, believe it or not. It’s got some great 80s music too, though I’m not sure about the outfits!

I watched Runner Runner recently which was another film which I enjoyed. Justin Timberlake really underlined his acting credentials, and it’s very relevant to the gambling industry which certainly helps.

Best Book

I’d have to say How I Became Putin’s No 1 Enemy by Bill Browder. It’s based on a true story, and it’s thrilling from cover to cover. I really struggled when it came to putting the book down. It’s is a gripping read, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to pick up an enjoyable new book.

Best Bet

The worst bet I’ve made was when I was at the Melbourne Cup. I’m not the most knowledgeable when it comes to betting on the horses, but my friend, who is an avid racing fan, told me to bet on the first three races and suggested also putting them in a trifecta. Having no idea what one of those was, I ignored him, he bet on my trifecta and unsurprisingly he won a lot more than I did! It’s the last time I’ll ignore him when it comes to betting.
