Increased player activity & positive acquisition sees Betsson hit record results for Q3 2015

European sports betting operator Betsson AB has announced a record revenue quarter for Q3 2015 (3 month period ending 3 September), with group revenues increasing to SEK 973 million (£75.5 million) up 24% on Q3 2014 corresponding SEK 782 million (£60.5 million).

The operator continues its strong 2015 momentum, posting top line growth on all key metrics. Q3 Operating income saw a 26% gain to SEK 260 million (£20 million), with Betsson governance detailing a strong margin of 26.8%.

Betsson detailed that it had witnessed increased customer activity during the period, with group deposits up 18% to SEK 3237 million (Q3 2014: SEK 2737 million), which saw its sportsbook turnover increase 36% to SEK 5506 million (Q3 2014: SEK 4063 million).

With a strong Q3 performance, Betsson governance are positive of hitting 2015 targets as the operator saw 2015 ‘full year’ revenues gains of SEK 2680 million (£2.08 billion) up 21% on 2014’s SEK 2220 million (£1.7 billion).

Betsson governance detailed that its Europe-wide business strategy was paying dividend to its corporate growth. During the period the operator completed its acquisition of Georgia licensed betting operator Europe-Bet for a purchase price of $50 million (£31 million).

The acquisition Europe-Bet has had a positive impact on corporate metrics, as Betsson looks to develop the brands product offering and customer services.

Updating the market new CEO Pontus Lindwall stated that he pleased with the operator progress and overall direction in 2015:

“By continuously analysing a huge amount of data about Internet use and what is relevant for customers, Betsson is able to develop more individually designed experiences. This has contributed to the Casino operations post organic growth of 19 per cent, meanwhile the product category grew 9 per cent in the highly competitive Nordic market. Advancements in how to handle big volumes of data are crucial for the company’s sustainable, profitable growth,”
