SBC Summit Barcelona to shine a light on payments, compliance and safer gambling challenges

This month’s SBC Summit Barcelona conference and exhibition is set to deliver an in-depth examination of the main safer gambling, payments technology, and compliance challenges faced by the sports betting and igaming industry.

The event for the global gambling industry will take place as planned at Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc on 21 – 24 September, as Barcelona is fully open for business events and has no quarantine requirements.

More than 450 companies will be represented at the Summit, with the delegate list containing a sizeable contingent of payments, compliance, and responsible gambling specialists from major international operators.

They will find plenty to interest them in the Payments and Compliance Zone, which has its own exhibition space, networking area, conference stage and agenda.

On the first full day of the conference, 22 September, the Zone’s agenda will focus on the latest developments in payments technology, KYC, and cryptocurrencies.

It features sessions on how to improve cooperation between operators and payment service providers, the development of a truly frictionless payment experience, the benefits and risks of cryptocurrencies, and best practice for navigating multi-jurisdictional compliance requirements.

The expert speakers include Olga Golikova (Head of Payments, Parimatch Tech), Steven Armstrong (Group Director of AML, William Hill), Elisabeth Isaksson (Director of Compliance, SlotsMillion), Rahul Das (Head of Payments, Livescore Group), Thees Buschmann (Head of Compliance, Platin Casino), and Martin Crowe (Head of Risk & Compliance / MLRO, SuprNation).

A special Leaders Panel focused on payments will also take place on 22 September, as part of the Summit’s Main Stage programme. It will see Gabriele Griesbacher (Global Director of Payments, Entain), Isabelle Delisle (Global Head of Payment Solutions, Pinnacle Sports), Filippos Antonopoulos (CEO, OKTO), Fabrizio Bergamaschi (VP Sales iGaming, Digital Payments, Nuvei) and Cecilia Paolino-Uboldi (International Director for BD, Carnival Corporation) examine how the adoption of frictionless payment processes has changed player behaviour and what that means for player protection strategies.

The following day will see a full conference track dedicated to the key issue of Safer Gambling take place on the Payments & Compliance Zone stage. The theme running throughout the day will be the practical steps that the industry can take to improve player safety provisions, including the use of technology for the early identification of problem gamblers, the value or otherwise of KPIs, and responsible promotional messaging.

Among those providing input from an operator perspective will be Martin Lycka (SVP, American Regulatory Affairs, Entain), Jenna Ekstrom (Responsible Gaming Specialist, PAF), and Sandhya Singh (Head of Operations, Napoleon Sports & Casino). They will be joined by experts from leading safer gambling specialists including YGAM, Betknowmore, Gordon Moody Association, and Safer Online Gambling Group

Rasmus Sojmark, Founder and CEO of SBC, said: “Improving player safety, finding effective payment solutions, and keeping on top of the changing compliance demands of multiple markets are three of the biggest challenges facing the industry. So we’re delighted to have assembled some of the world’s leading specialists to help shine a light on those issues and share some practical ideas for the next steps for operators and suppliers.”
