Girondins sponsorship sees Betclic complete ‘Bordelais mission’

Announcing a two-year ‘principal partnership’ agreement with Ligue 1 football club Girondins de Bordeaux, French online betting group Betclic confirms that it has achieved it it’s marketing mandate of sponsoring all professional sports teams within its home city.

Ahead of this weekend’s Ligue 1 football season (9 August), FC Bordeaux management confirms that the Betclic brand will be displayed across the back of ‘Les Girondins’ jersey, with further expanded brand coverage across the Matmut Atlantic Stadium (capacity – 42,000).

The sponsorship sees Betclic confirm its ‘Bordelais mission’ of sponsoring all professional sports outfits within the city of Bordeaux, which the French betting group relocated to from London at the end of 2017, making the Aquitaine city its new HQ.

Last year, Betclic secured a multi-year sponsorship of French Top-14 rugby union side Union Bordeaux Begles (UBB), with its marketing department stating that the bookmaker would become the biggest supporter of Bordelais sports.

“We share the desire to offer our audiences the best possible experience and we hope to delight the fans of the Girondins by offering new engagements and the most secure place to bet this Ligue 1 season” commented Nicolas Béraud, CEO of Betclic Group, in a statement.

Beyond the football sponsorship, Betclic marketing confirms that it will support Girondins social and grassroots initiatives, promoting responsible gaming across the community.

“We are both Bordelais, so it was logical to join forces and engage our communities. Sharing the same desire to live the passion of football, we are impatient, my colleagues and myself to open with Betclic this new chapter of our long history ” adds Frédéric Longuépée, President of the Girondins.
