Betclic has announced its ‘most ambitious sports sponsorship to date’ by becoming the principal sportsbook partner of the Fédération Française de Rugby (FFR), the governing body of Rugby Union in France.
Announced by parent company Banijay, Betclic and the FFR have agreed on a three-year partnership from 2025 to 2028 aimed at promoting all levels of French Rugby Union, from amateur clubs to the France XV.
The FFR stated that it had approved Betclic as its first sports betting partner, as the Bordeaux-based company had earned the trust of 20 million customers.
Sponsorship commitments will see Betclic collaborate with the FFR “to train coaching teams and raise awareness about competition integrity, responsible gaming, and ethical and inclusive practices, in accordance with the Federation’s Charter of 15 Social Responsibility Commitments.”
Founded in 2005, Betclic has previously supported France’s Top 14 rugby clubs, including its hometown team, Union Bordeaux-Bègles.
Nicolas Béraud, Founder and CEO of Betclic, said: “One in two Betclic players bets on rugby. This partnership with the FFR aligns with their expectations and complements our existing partnerships with the National Rugby League and Union Bordeaux-Bègles (UBB).
We are proud to support, alongside the FFR, all the passionate individuals—whether volunteers or professionals—who bring rugby to life. This agreement reflects our commitment to upholding the values of this unique and widely cherished sport.”
As a principal partner of French Rugby Union, Betclic will further support the FFR’s Rugby au Cœur fund, helping social inclusion projects through sport and positively impacting the lives and social mobility of underprivileged communities in France.
Welcoming Betclic as new partner, Florian Grill, President of the FFR stated: “This partnership with Betclic is a win for the FFR as it includes media campaigns that enhance rugby’s visibility and recognition among the general public. More importantly, Betclic is also committed to supporting us through the Rugby au Cœur fund, which backs civic initiatives and educational efforts through sport in our 2,000 amateur rugby clubs,”
