Infront, a technology partner of the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), has formed a deal with Genius Sports to utilise its tracking services.
The collaboration will aim to implement Genuis’ tracking technology across France’s Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.
Meanwhile, technology and data services to the LFP are part of a broader partnership encompassing betting rights, selected media rights, and digital and technology services, the latter powered by Infront Lab, the firm’s innovation arm.
Martin Aurenche, LFP Media Chief Media Officer, said: “Infront has demonstrated their commitment to ensuring the LFP remains at the forefront of football innovation through this partnership.”
In further detail, LFP will have access to GeniusIQ, Genius Sports’ AI and data platform, allowing the league body to have a single, connected system that will aim to help with player and game analysis.
“We are excited to see what GeniusIQ will bring to our league in terms of cutting-edge data insights, enhancing not only the fan experience but also providing clubs and coaches with invaluable tools to elevate their performance.”
Additionally, data tracking insights will be displayed to Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 viewers in real time. The coordination of the technology with the LFP will be handled by Infront.
Machine learning and AI will provide data-driven performance tools to LFP coaches and analysts enhancing training, in-game decision making and post-match analysis. Augmented, data-driven broadcasts will also include key tracking insights displayed to viewers in real-time.
“Together, Infront, LFP and Genius Sports share a vision for implementing best-in-class technology to enhance French football both on and off the pitch,” added Jack Davison, Chief Commercial Officer of Genius Sports.
“We’re excited to begin this new partnership to put the LFP at the forefront of data innovation through GeniusIQ. From enabling coaches to find their winning edge to powering augmented, data-driven broadcasts, GeniusIQ provides the foundations for unparalleled fan engagement.”
Earlier this month, Genius Sports reaffirmed that it will generate positive cash flow in 2024, achieving a corporate objective from its NYSE IPO.
The statement followed the brand’s Q3 trading results, which exceeded corporate expectations, with revenues at $120m—18% higher than 2023’s comparative of $101m and above the expected guidance of $119m.
