Romain Vez hired as Genius Sports’ global basketball lead

Genius Sports has appointed Romain Vez to head up the company’s global basketball strategy, significantly enhancing the data supplier’s senior team.

Vez will be tasked with overseeing the management and expansion of Genius Sports’ partnerships with over 250 basketball leagues and federations worldwide.

Commenting on his new position, Vez stressed: “Genius Sports has an unrivalled reputation for delivering major digital transformation projects for the largest organisations in world basketball, including FIBA and the NBA.

“Being selected to lead their next stage of expansion and product innovation is a real honour and a challenge I’m thrilled to be undertaking.”

Having previously played in the top division of Swiss basketball, Vez has accrued more than 20 years’ experience working for some of the largest organisations in world sport, including UEFA and Genius Sports’ long-term partner FIBA.

The new global basketball strategy lead has played a pivotal role in delivering commercial and operational strategy – having been involved in several major international sports projects such as the 2008 Olympic Games and each Champions League Final from 2013 to 2018.
