Paddy Power hopes to find the #MissingType at York Races

Paddy PowerThis week’s Tipster Challenge Guest is Paddy Power, Director of Communications for his namesake company. A graduate from Dublin University, Power has worked in all facets of the business, including risk control, operations and marketing.

The Irish bookmaker is completely unique within the industry, with entertaining advertising campaigns and often controversial betting markets. Just last month, they initiated an advertising stunt at the Russian Embassy in Kensington, as the Russian Olympic team faced a blanket ban from appearing at the Games in Rio.

The company is supporting this week’s NHS #MissingType campaign, where letters that make up the blood types are removed to highlight the lack of donors. So for this week, today’s Guest tips from York will be credited to P DDY P WER.

P DDY P WER will be up against SBC News, Stephen Harris of bettingexpert and Timeform:

SBC News: Line Of Reason

Performed well at Ascot last time out, with a second place on good to firm at 12/1. More expected.

bettingexpert: Robot Boy

Not the easiest to catch right, but has plenty of ability and showed on his second run this season that he is capable of landing a fast ground sprint handicap like this.

Timeform: Duke Of Firenze

Was back to the sort of form which saw him successful over C&D when fifth in last month’s Stewards’ Cup, and in a fiendishly-competitive sprint handicap, he gets the narrow vote.

P DDY P WER: Line Of Reason

Caught the eye at Ascot last time, when back to handicap company. Can be competitive off a mark of 105.

SBC News: Bear Valley

Ran away from the field at Goodwood just three weeks ago, and will be in the mix again here.

bettingexpert: Lockheed

Has scope to improve and impressed in victory last time, in a race likely to prove solid juvenile form.

Timeform: Bear Valley

Improving rapidly, and easily beat his 14 rivals in a nursery at Goodwood last month. He can provide Mark Johnston with a record-equalling fourth win in this event.

P DDY P WER: Bear Valley

This son of Manduro is improving at a rate of knots for the in-form Johnston stable. More improvement required here, but attractive at the prices.

SBC News: Idaho

As the clear favourite for this race, it would be a huge surprise if Idaho was beaten.

bettingexpert: Idaho

Has plenty in hand on the figures, and comes here freshened up and primed with ground conditions to suit.

Timeform: Idaho

Hard to ignore the claims of Idaho, who sets a clear standard on the back of his excellent placed efforts in the English/Irish Derbies, especially with his main-rival Across The Stars shouldering a 3lb penalty.

P DDY P WER: Idaho

I can’t see past the Ballydoyle charge here. Good 3rd in the Epsom Derby, improving to 2nd in the Irish equivalent and is 9lbs ahead of his nearest rival on ratings. Ticks all the boxes.

SBC News: Postponed

The drop back in trip should not trouble the favourite too much. Stable has been a touch out of form, but Postponed is unbeaten since June 2015.

bettingexpert: Postponed

Has thrived since joining Varian this season, and looks a rock solid favourite with ideal conditions.

Timeform: Postponed

Clear on Timeform weight-adjusted ratings, and can bag his fourth Group 1 despite slight concerns about the drop in trip and form of his stable.

P DDY P WER: Postponed

The Varian horse is back after a longish lay off. Whilst race fitness might not be on his side, I’d have Highland Reel down as his biggest danger, whom he dismissed with relative ease in Meydan in the Spring.

SBC News: Sweet Selection

Sweet Selection is certainly on the rise after winning at both Nottingham and Musselburgh, before defying a 5lb rise to claim a hat-trick at Newbury.

bettingexpert: Poyle Thomas

Has shaped better than the bare form in recent starts, and seems sure to go well here with Buick a positive booking.

Timeform: Oceane

Remains a stayer to keep on side after his luckless run at Goodwood, and just shades the vote over the thriving Sweet Selection and the reliable Nakeeta.

P DDY P WER: Oceane

Alan King often sends out a few decent stayers from Barbury Castle during the summer months and this one is no exception. Winner on the level at Ascot last month, and got going a little late when staying on into 3rd at Goodwood last time, there is more to come from this fella off a mark of 87.

SBC News: Kamra

Only one of the last ten favourites has been successful in this race, so we’re going for an outsider.

bettingexpert: Kamra

Looks to have got a very fair opening mark now tackling nurseries, and should go close if getting luck in running.

Timeform: Naafer

Much better than her finishing position suggests at Goodwood, well away from the main action and meeting traffic problems. She undoubtedly has mileage in her from this sort of mark and gets the nod in a wide-open nursery.

P DDY P WER: Naafer

I quite like the look of William Haggas’ Oasis Dream filly.  She got a little bit overwhelmed at Goodwood, but has every chance here having won over the Knavesmire last month.
