This week we have interviewed Paul Morris, Bet Advisor’s first ever American Football tipster.  Since he joined Bet Advisor in October 2011 his clients enjoyed 864 tips with 2242 points of profits for a solid yield of 4.38%. He started this year NFL season with very strong results yielding 12% in September and 22% in October.

SBC:  How did you first get into sports betting ?

Paul: It was a long time ago, maybe 12-13 years, back when sports betting wasn’t so familiar and available online, we had to go to specific shops and make bets with cash money, get receipts, etc. It was way more romantic back then, because there wasn’t so many markets available, so many games, of course as maybe most of us, I have started betting on soccer games. It wasn’t so much for the money back then, than it was for fun and adrenalin, betting on your favorite teams, your country to win in a European qualification, etc.

SBC: At what point did you realize that you can make some real money from sports betting?

Paul: There is nothing certain in sports betting, the most important thing is to never let your emotions lead the way and bet with your head, not with your heart. But you should always trust your gut, if one bet doesn’t seem good enough, no matter what anyone tells you – just don’t make it. You have to be certain about the bets you’re making, think carefully and then place it. Of course, I am talking about substantial bets, with a good amount of money, most of us have tried crazy combos, hoping to win 100k with 1 Euro or something like this – it never happens, trust me.

SBC: How did you come to select American Football as your chosen sport?

Paul: I just loved it the first time I watched it! I think I have told this story to my subscribers, but I’ll tell it again – I am a European boy, and growing up, there wasn’t many sources of watching or even understanding what American Football is. My father was working for an American company a while ago and they had this award – best european salesman gets 2 tickets to Super Bowl XXXIX in Jacksonville, plane tickets, hotels – everything was paid for by my dad’s firm. So he said: Wanna go? And I said: Yeah, the hell I want to go! So it was the most amazing thing in my life – I read a book in the plane about the American football, watched some clips and games to at least understand the rules, it was something amazing, really! When I saw Tom Brady and the patriots, I totally loved that team, they were doing amazing things and watching it at the stadium is totally different thing than watching on TV. Since that day I fell in love with Am. Football, started keeping statistics, reading different books, watching games, and for years now, I am a huge fan and huge bettor on Am. Football.

SBC: Are there any particular events that you look forward to throughout the year?

Paul: Well, being a Patriots fan, I am waiting eagerly for every game they have, especially now, after 2 easy games, they have a very serious 6 game-straight, playing with some of the best teams in the NFL. And of course, as every NFL fan, I like Thanksgiving day with the 3 game combo, I like late December games in the snow, and of course – the playoffs and Superbowl.

SBC: What was your best ever bet?

Paul: I have also said this to my subscribers – my biggest win was 10K and some change with 50 bucks bet – around 200 odd – 4 games – 4 favorite minus spreads and 4 overs – it was a piece of beauty that bet. I have won bigger sums, but with bigger bets, but this bet – 50 bucks for 10 000 – nothing like it has happened again. Well, maybe someday?…

SBC: What kind of factors do you evaluate before making a selection?

Paul: Well, I always like evaluating the current form of the teams – that’s the most important thing for me, which team, comes from what situation. The next thing is the injured players, it is very important thing also. And then you have other things – history, statistics, weather and you should always search for some mismatches with the Vegas lines, as soon as they come out. I like betting on Monday night for the next week games, especially when I see something that’s out of order.

SBC: What has been the biggest influence on your betting career?

Paul: Never really had an influence, my dad isn’t some hazardous person, he would bet from time to time on big events – Champions league final, some World cup games, etc, but he’s not some big bettor at all. All this betting stuff – it’s really me, no one else.

SBC: Do you have any future plans in regards to your service?

Paul: Not really, I will do, what I do best – provide my subscribers with bets on Am. Football, bets that I think are adequate and that I make also with my own money, so I put my money where my mouth is, really.

SBC: What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your betting career?

Paul: There were times, when you get into a losing streak, that you are all in on the next game – that’s not always a good advisor. I had times in my life, when I was close to madness, close to selling my car, so I can bet a big amount of money, so I can cut back on some losses – of course, I didn’t do it, when you fall into that pit of losses – everybody has a cold streak, you just need to do what you’ve been doing so far, but maybe start betting smaller amounts on singles. And when you start winning again, you start upping the ante, until things get back to normal, but no matter what you do – there is no such thing as a certain game, don’t forget that! Never bet more than you can afford to, keep your head cool and think as a money-maker, not as a fan or a desperate person. It will all turn eventually, so just keep doing what you’re doing methodically and calmly.

SBC: How do you balance your betting time and family life?

Paul: I am not married, I have a girlfriend, but she doesn’t really know what’s going on 🙂 She just knows Sunday nights are off limit for going out or whatever – it’s time for Football. That’s all, I don’t have any problems with her, she’s a cool girl, knows I am much into sports, but you have to make compromises – if you want to watch Football all Sunday night, you don’t watch Soccer all Saturday long, because that’s when women get frustrated and evil, just keep a balance and you should be OK.

SBC: Do you have a favourite team/horse that you follow regularly?

Paul: Of course I have a favorite team and that is the New England Patriots – I just love that team and the first time I’ve ever watched Am. Football was their game, so it’s kind of a sentimental story. I do, however, follow most of the teams in NFL, I cap every single game of the current week, with HCs and totals, I don’t bet them all, of course, but of the teams I follow closely are Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints.

SBC: How do you keep calm when you hit a run of losing bets?

Paul: I think I already answered that question – you don’t give into despair, you use your head, you don’t do anything drastic, just keep doing what you’re doing and the things will turn around eventually. We’ve all seen that movie Two for the money – I have always said this: YOU DON’T BET MORE THAN YOU CAN AFFORD TO! Don’t go taking credits, don’t sell your car, don’t do anything drastic, just hang in there, even if it means you have to stop until next week – don’t do anything stupid, that will cost you your wife, or your family, etc. It’s only sport, it’s an obsession, I know, but you must always know, that it’s not the most important thing in life, that you are doing this, mainly for fun, and then to get some extra bucks, but it’s not a certainty and it’s not a job! It’s something that we all enjoy – betting, but it shouldn’t become a mania or something out of hand, you should always keep an eye on yourself, because it’s an addiciton, it’s worse than alcohol, it’s worse than drugs. I know some people that have gambling addictions, mainly we talk about poker there, but still – they just can’t stop and they don’t know what they’re doing to the people they love, until it’s too late. So, be smart, bet amounts that won’t hurt your family budget and most importantly – have fun, while watching Football, that’s what it’s all about.

SBC: How do you organize your bank management?

Paul: You start with a sum you can afford, and you bet mainly singles. I bet combos from time to time, and I win very oftenly, but these things come with the experience, know what to combine with what, etc. Good bets are singles, or doubles, when you bet on 1 game – for example I love to bet the minus points and the over of a certain game, but don’t do crazy stuff like betting 6-7-8 folds and expect to be a millionaire with 10 bucks. That’s just not serious, if you’re doing it only for fun – OK, but if you’re doing it to actually win some money – don’t waste your money on stupid bets. The beginning is always hard – you start with some sum, distribute it between 4-5-6 singles, then you start waiting, that feeling in your stomach – it’s priceless. Then, when you win some bets, listening to me, you start betting a little bit bigger sums, etc, etc and that’s how the cycle works. One step at a time, don’t ever bet your entire bank on a single game, no matter how sure you are, use your head and don’t do anything drastic.

SBC: What is the best reason you could give to anyone who was thinking about following your service?

Paul: The best reason is – because every pick I give my subscribers, is a bet I have already made, I don’t tell them empty words, I always think through every pick I give them, sometimes – and I have told them this – I choose some picks over others, because the system has a limitation and sometimes I am wrong, but no matter what – I am always honest and give them 100% of my knowledge and my attention.
