One of Spain’s oldest horse racing tracks ‘The Mijas Racecourse’ has been seeking for several weeks joint venture and additional investment from UK betting operators, to help aid its declining operations. Based outside of Malaga Andalusia ‘The Mijas Racecourse’, the race track are currently under a management dispute with event organizers/managers Hipódromo de la Zarzuela, appointed as Race Course managers by the local authorities for the region of Andalusia
The Mijas Racecourse race track owners are looking for a UK betting operator with regulated betting services for the Spanish market to take over the day to day management of the race track, and additional services which include track betting, online betting operations, care of the race horse and the organising of events at the Track. Current Mijas Racecourse owners believe that a tie in with a UK bookmaker would be beneficial to their racecourse as the region of Andalusia has a strong British ex-pat community and they would also like to be able have track wagers displayed to UK punters in order to increase revenues and coverage of the race track internationally.
Due to the ongoing dispute with regionally appointed gaming/gambling management services company Hipódromo de la Zarzuela, ‘The Mijas Racecourse’ have suspended all winter and spring racing events. ‘The Mijas Racecourse’ owners believe that they have been mediocre management service by Zarzuela, and that funds of €80,000 to improve the Race Track and its facilities which were promised to them were not received, causing a severe decline standards and business revenues.
Race course owners would like to seek investment from outside their regional jurisdiction in order to provide a better service and widen customer appeal from Spain and abroad. The Mijas Racecourse although popular has seen revenues decline in the past 2 years of operations.
